In the 1960s, Ammar's set out to establish a retail business centered on premium family fashion, textiles, housewares, and unmatched personal attention. Selecting a location on King Street in the heart of downtown Kingston, they built a store that quickly became the City of Kingston's go-to destination for high-quality ready-to-wear apparel and home goods.
As fashion trends evolved, so did Ammar's. By the 1970s, ready-to-wear apparel, children's collections, and housewares were introduced. Over the subsequent decades, the store expanded its footprint to serve families across the City of Kingston, transitioning seamlessly into a full-scale premium department store.
Today, led by the third and fourth generations of the Ammar family, we remain proudly family-owned and operated. We are dedicated to providing the same warm, hospitable experience that The Ammars championed more than sixty years ago.
